Sunglasses: Splurges and Steals

If you’re like us, you have a pair of sunglasses that are kept in a case, either in your purse or closet or somewhere else safe and they’re worn like an accessory. Then you also have a pair that’s tossed in the car or maybe in the bottom of your purse that was from a drug store and cost $7.99. Both pairs are essential to summer sun! But we did some sunglasses shopping and found that your “okay-to-get-scratched” pair doesn’t have to be any less stylish than the pair you bought to have for years.

Here are some of our favorite styles of the season in a Splurge and a Steal.

Cateye sunglasses with leopard, retro with a twist. On the left, $20 from ASOS and on the right $185 tortoise and metal glasses with gradient lenses by Elizabeth and James.

Round frame sunglasses. On the left, again ASOS has an awesome $20 pair that look the part! Love the layered look on the frames. Then on the right, a brand launched in 2007 and named after Sevile Row, brings the whole package with very quality glasses including leather temple tips, tinted glass lenses and amazing style for $450.

What would a sunglasses feature be without aviators? Check out the pair on the left from Urban Outfitters. Can you tell they’re only $18? Click here to find them. And what other brand could make our splurge pair if not Ray Ban. With glass lenses and the classic wire frames, they’re amazing and not a bad price at $149 for the quality.

Perfect Spring and Summer Accessories

Last week you all read our feature on summer tops and blouses. There were some great ones! Low priced options to wear with shorts and some beautiful, super luxe fabrics to wear to work and out for drinks. But of course, you need some accessories to go with those tops!

We have a really wide variety of accessories to show you today. From nail polish to cell phone cases and from a gorgeous ring to super fun wedges, we think you’ll like this post. Check it out and let us know in the comments that you’re loving!

Leather and gold linked bracelet for $49 and large, agate stone ring with gorgeous coloring for $121, both are from ShopBop. Remember! ShopBop always has free 3-day shipping and free returns!

What is summer without the perfect polish? These two are so fun, so different and so going to be on our nails as the weather warms. On the left, Mermaid’s Dream and on the right, Butter London’s Disco Biscuit.

Okay, so spending $48 on the perfect cell phone case might seem a little extravagant. We’re with you. But when it looks as cute and as spring as this Rebecca Minkoff case does, you just have to splurge. While the case matches everything, you’ll be matching everything else to these awesome Kelsey Dagger wedges from Zappos, which are on sale right now for $75!

Fabulous Summer Tops

Hello lovely readers!

Is the weather heating up where you are? It’s heating up in Denver, slowly but surely. We’ve been on the lookout for the last week for amazing summer tops. Things you can wear to work, then out for drinks or wear on weekends then again on date night. Versatile, quality and, of course, super cute.

We found these amazing summer tops at a variety of price points. Some of the higher quality fabrics are in the $200 range, but we found a few that are less than $50 as well. What summer top is on your list? Any of these you love? Leave it in the comments!

Let’s get started with a fantastic color and a fabulous price. Check out this summer yellow top from Old Navy for $25 on the left, then cruise to Anthropologie for this similarly-cut, silk floral top for $98. Love the sleeve length on both of these.

Orange alert! These are our two favorite orange tops we found. A work-ready, silk 3/4 sleeve from Tucker than you can find on ShopBop and an affordable Tinley Road tank that could be worn alone or under a variety of spring and summer jackets.

For cooler days, that tend to happen from time to time, we picked out a sheer pullover and a jacket that are ultra-wearable through many seasons. Check out this awesome  $78 Urban Outfitters blazer on the left and this super luxe pullover by DKNY on the right. The pullover can be found here on Shopbop for $245, a splurge, but you’ll wear it many times.

Let’s top off our summer top choices with some stripes. Most of the major retailers have put stripes in their spring and summer lines so don’t miss adding at least one striped top to your wardrobe. This fitted top from Revolve clothing is 100% cotton and perfect for layering or wearing alone this summer. Love it!

Summer Clothes for Larger Busts

Many of you loved our feature last fall featuring clothes (in particular, the elusive button down shirt!) for larger bust sizes. Today we’re back with great summer clothes you can wear if you’re bigger up top. We searched high and low for a great variety but if there’s something you’re looking for or something you’ve found and already love, we’d love to hear! Leave it in the comments below.

A maxi with a forgiving top and balancing bottom is this Rory Becca V-neck slit maxi. They can be found on Shopbop for $138. We love both colors!

A high-quality, fitted tank that won’t stretch or cling. With a great bra, this is a summer go-to and is available on Net-a-porter for $85.

With flouncy sleeves and a steep V-neck plus luxe fabric and a great cut, this next top is perfect with white skinny jeans, dark blue jeans and pumps or any color of capris you can come up with. Check it out here on ShopBop for $275, a splurge but worth it since it’s an all-season buy.

We understand. This is the toughest time of year for ladies with larger bust sizes. Strapless dresses, bare shoulders and skimpy materials make it tough when you need a more supportive bra.

Here are a few options that can help!

Spanx makes this full coverage strapless bra that stays in place significantly better than some of the competitors. Instead of dipping in the middle to form cups, it provides coverage and support across. Click here to find it for $78.

If your aversion to going strapless is beyond even what Spanx could fix, check out a strapless bustier or a strapless slip like this one from Naomi and Nicole for $58 at Macys.

Do you have a strapless bra or go-to top in the summer? Leave it in the comments! xoxo

Color Palette: Pink!

It’s warming up and we’re breaking out our spring wardrobe. Plus with Easter right around the corner what better time of year to wear pink?!

From shoes to accessories and from shirts to dresses, we found adorable pink items in every size, shape and shade. What shade of pink is your favorite? As the most girly color in the spectrum, do you love it, hate it or wear it sparingly? Answer in the comments!

Seychelles Flats from Anthropologie (left) for $90 and Vera Wang snake flats for $175.

A tasteful mix of pinks and oranges in a $20 scarf from ASOS (left) and an awesome colorblock dress that could be worn for months and through a variety of seasons! The dress is $437 and a little over our normal price point, but it’s 100% silk, beautifully cut and will be a bright wardrobe staple for a long time. Splurge-worthy for sure!

Luxurious blush pink envelope clutch from ASOS for only $25 and a fabulous leather and chain light pink bracelet for $45.

Crazy cool pink pants for only $35 (right) and lovely bright open-toe wedges for $250.

Summer on the horizon: Maxi Dresses

When scrolling through hundreds of dresses to find  a handful for our feature today, you realize just how hard it is to make a maxi dress look good. Even some of the models in the images didn’t look good in the dress. Yikes! We’ve been working on this feature for quite some time because we’ve been on the search for the perfect maxi for quite some time as well. Something that is flattering not frumpy and sexy while being floor-length.

Here are the three rules of picking the right maxi:

1. It must have an adult print. Small animal prints, washed out colors or ultra-feminine colors like light pinks are tricky on maxis. Bold prints, solids and extra-large designs are better choices.

2. It must have some definition in the waist. If not, it adds 20 pounds and looks like pajamas.

3. It must be the right length and worn with the right shoes. Plan to have it altered if you’re going to wear it with flip flops or find a killer pair of wedges to wear with the longer styles.

Let’s start off with one of the classiest maxis we found. While probably not for the beach, it’s still a Spring Break dress for that romantic dinner with your significant other. Robert Rodriguez, $202 available on the Outnet.

Our next maxi pick is such a wonderful color and unique cut. The Flock of Birds maxi is by Free People and available on ShopBop for $138. It’s the perfect maxi to play up the boho look with leather sandles and feather earrings!

In this next maxi, we almost break our own rule about having some gather or cinch at the waist. Instead, this maxi has a great, flattering pattern and it would be easy to add a belt as well. It’s 100% silk, which definitely takes up the luxe factor. Beautiful! $275 on Pink Mascara.

This Ted Baker dress for $365 is the only strapless dress to make the list. Between the color, cut of the bustier and quality, we couldn’t resist! One of our favorites. Also comes in teal and peach but we love the orange.

The best nude pumps and peep toes

Nude heels make your legs look longer and tanner and they match everything. They came to the limelight before Kate Middleton donned them but this neutral shoe has been catapulted into stardom since the beautiful Duchess wears a nude pump on many of her appearances. If you don’t already have a pair in your closet, you should!

We’ve been building this list for a while and there were A LOT of nude pumps and peep toes to choose from. Here are a few of our favorites and if you have a nude heel you love, leave it in the comments!

Scroll through the list and you can click on the picture to be taken to the exact shoe for your online shopping convenience. :-)

Nine West, $79, one of the most classic of our selections.

Michael Antonio, $49, nude suede.

Luxury Rebel, $119, love the wedge for summer and the slightly pink tint to the suede.

Luxury Rebel peep toe from Zappos for $102, the platform adds so much comfort for this much height.

Boutique 9 peep toe color block for $65. Definitely a favorite on the list for how much color blocking is already emerging as a trend!

Camilla Skovgaard pointed toe pump for $225, very quality, very classic.

And for fun, to end the nude pump feature, a splurge from Louboutin! $595 from Neiman Marcus and a shoe you’ll have for the rest of your life.

Great Color Combinations For Spring

Sometimes you try on a new outfit and just go “wow”. The colors look perfect, the fits are ideal and it immediately becomes one of your go-to looks. If only that could happen every single time!

Today is all about color combinations. We put together combos of not only some of our old stand bys, but also some new and fun colors that push the envelope this spring. What colors look best on you? What colors are you wearing now? Comment below!

Teal and Copper (plus, flowy chiffon and amazing cowboy boots) is one of our first and favorite combinations. This dress from ASOS is a real steal at $38 and the boots are from one of Western wear’s go-to brands: Ariat.

Black and grey is so much more interesting than black and white. We adore these black skinnies by Citizens of Humanity and you can find them here on ShopBop. The grey tee has some great detail to make it more than your average tee shirt and is $68.

Real deal outfit! Mustard and blue is a fantastic spring combination. It’s a pop of color that is subtle enough to be wearable and the individual elements of the outfit are versatile. Color is great, but how often can you really wear that neon orange pencil skirt? The dress is $34 from Old Navy and the scarf is only $28 from Nordstrom.

Blush and burgundy is wonderful because we just love to shades of the same color when combined correctly. A very light blush pink top goes so well with these rich, dark maroon jeans from Rich and Skinny. Chiffon bow detail blouse from Net-a-porter is $235. Plus the treated stretch jeans give an ultra feminine blouse some edge.

Meinto…boutiques find an online home

Today we’re bringing you a wonderful review of a site you might have not yet heard of. So listen up dear readers! This is a good one. Plus, of course, we’ve picked out a few items from the site that we love because we just couldn’t resist.

Meinto has given small boutiques an online home, kind of like what Etsy did for artists and craftsmen. So in other words, Meinto helps eliminate the following conversation…

You: “Where did you get that amazing top?”

Stylish Friend: “Oh I got it at this little boutique when I was on vacation!”

You: “Seriously? Bummer! Wish I could find one like it!”

Since we do our shopping online, we had to jump at the opportunity to work with Meinto and bring knowledge of this new site, that helps you buy local, to our stylish readers. Some highlights:

Want to learn more about Meinto and meet the team behind the brand? Click here.

Want to see all the adorable boutiques and brands you can find on Meinto? Definitely click here.

But here is one of our favorite parts of the site. You all know how important we think good navigation is when it comes to online shopping. Meinto has this down with a whole list of the brands carried on their site. Click here to find a list of brands so click a brand you’re looking for to see the full selection by that brand. They have many other ways to sort styles by latest clothes, shoes and accessories. Great!

We all know that sizes vary when you’re boutique shopping and their return policy isn’t bad either. Just keep the tags on when you try it on for the first time. If it doesn’t fit, send it back within 15 days for a refund.

And we’re excited to help Meinto announce a contest for a $1000 giftcard! Simply visit their Facebook page, Like Meinto and check out the rules for this cool video contest.

So now the really fun part. We went shopping on Meinto.com and these are a few things we love. In addition to the bag above, we adore this green safari dress with faux leather straps for $110, which definitely screams “Amazing Boutique!” These  pink and black flats for only $79 are ready to wear to work.

We also love the classic, flattering and super comfy cut of this silk tunic for $195.
